Transport options

There are different transport options available, depending on your arrival location:


Brussels National Airport

The national airport of Belgium is located just outside of Brussels. The Brussels Airport railway station is located within the airport building.

By train to Leuven

2 connections per hour / about 15 minutes

First train at 05:21, last train at 00:47 (on Sat and Sun at 05:02 and 00:47)

Brussels South (Charleroi) Airport

This small low-cost airport is located 50 km outside of Brussels, in Charleroi.

By bus to Leuven

There are no direct connections to Leuven, so you have to take the shuttle bus to Brussels first. It takes about an hour and goes twice per hour. When you miss the last bus, you may still have a chance to share a taxi to Brussels-Midi.
Shuttle bus to Brussels-Midi Railway Station:
- departs every 20-30 minutes
- takes about 50 minutes to Brussels-Midi

Note that are there different fares for the shuttle to Brussels depending on the booking period.
Please visit the website to book your ticket, but you can also buy your ticket outside the
airport building (follow the blue line) at the standard fare.

Brussel-Midi railway station

Thalys: international high speed train between France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Thalys
does not stop in Leuven, but in Brussels ‘Zuid/Midi’ station (with many direct connections to Leuven).
Eurostar: international high speed train between the UK, France and Belgium. Does not stop in Leuven,
but in Brussels ‘Zuid/Midi’ station.

By train to Leuven

4 trains per hour/ about 30 minutes

By taxi to Leuven

There are taxis located just outside the railway station building which can take you to Leuven. 

Pricing depends on which company you choose, but usually a oneway ride is approx. € 50,- and up.


From Leuven railway station to the conference venue (Faculty Club):

There are several busses per hour (bus nr. 601 or nr. 2) running between Leuven railway station and the Faculty Club (one bus every 7 to 10 minutes, taking approx. 10 minutes to the conference venue).

Alternatively, you can either choose to take a taxi (located just outside the railway station building) or walk the 2 kms (approx. 25 mins).
