Academic partner for independent evaluation and implementation of innovations in primary care

Interested in working together?

The EPI-Centre offers its academic knowledge and expertise to hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, Clinical Research Organisations, government bodies, and other healthcare stakeholders. We support them in the critical assessment and optimal implementation of diagnostic tests, decision support tools, digital applications, and medical technologies in the context of primary care.

Embedded within the Academic Centre for General Practice at KU Leuven, the EPI-Centre brings together a multidisciplinary team of experienced health researchers, clinical experts, and methodologists. With over 18 years of experience in coordinating clinical studies and a broad expertise in research design and methodology, we are well positioned to guide innovative healthcare projects with both scientific depth and practical relevance.

Our work is grounded in independent, evidence-based evaluation, focusing on five essential dimensions of the diagnostic and clinical pathway: analytical performance, clinical performance, clinical effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and broader societal and system impact. Identifying a clear clinical need is always a crucial first step, significantly increasing the likelihood of sustainable integration into routine practice.

As a neutral academic centre of expertise, we bridge the gap between science, clinical care, and innovation. By working with us, you gain access to a team that thoroughly understands both the scientific and practical challenges of healthcare innovation. We actively involve healthcare providers and end-users to ensure each project is aligned with real-world needs and leads to well-founded, practice-oriented decisions.

Are you developing a point-of-care test, a decision support tool, or a digital health application? We are ready to support your innovation independently, from concept to real-world implementation in clinical practice.
